Volusia County lifeguards are gearing up for the 2017 United States Lifesaving Association National Lifeguard Championships, which will take place next week in Daytona Beach Aug. 9-12. Events include board races, surf swims, surf boat race, beach flag and rescue races; running relays; iron man and iron woman competitions; and a 2K run.
